Diesel – xXx Rock and Roll Circus (New York)

with 2 comments

Overlooking the Manhattan skyline from disused pier and featuring only headline worthy acts; Diesel xXx Rock and Roll Circus was one of the biggest birthday celebrations of 2008.

N*E*R*D, M.I.A, Hot Chip, Chaka Khan, T.I, Franz Ferdinand and even more artists created one of the most incredible line-ups that side of the Atlantic. We interviewed the artists and brought the content back to London in time for a speedy broadcast and podcast. Apparently loads of food and circus performances were available but we were around the back with waiting for the musicians to come out their trailers…

Featuring some of the coolest bands from not only London but across the globe Diesel Radio delivered a unique blend of cult radio on FM and online.

Artist lead and without restrictions, Diesel Radio offered an insight into the musical tastes of cult bands including Klaxons, New Yong Pony Club, Mystery Jets, The Teenagers, Crookers and dozens more artists and record label showcases.

Based above the Amersham Arms in New Cross London, and second time around down the road from trendy Shoreditch – the Diesel Radio studio not only inspired the listeners but also the artists that wanted to keep going back just to hang out.

Now on a break until 2009 there certainly is a lot to look forward to for the ‘future of music’ and Diesel:U:Music Radio.

Talkback Thames – Sex: How To Do Everything by Em & Lo

leave a comment »

In true late night Five (formally Channel 5) fashion, talkbackThames were commissioned to produce a 10 x 60 minute series on sex.

Call in the Sexperts Emma Taylor and Lorelei Sharkey. Together Em & Lo have written seven books together including An A-Z Guide to Hooking Up, An A-Z Guide to Bedside Accessories and Sex: How to Do Everything.

Filming took place not only in their own turf Times Square, NYC but also in Piccadilly Circus, London. Filming started at midnight due to City of Westminster filming restrictions and through the early hours of the night – the public gathered around to see why there was a bed in the ‘circus’.

The filming wrapped up on time (just before sunrise) and the security guards helped keep the public on the right side of encouraging. The series aired from June on Five.
